Things required before you start:

  • You should have an existing personal Google account with the necessary login information (email address, password).

Steps to successfully create a Google Ads account:

Step 1: Go to the Google Ads website.

Click on the “Get Started” button at the top right corner of the screen.

Note: If you already have other existing Google ad accounts under the Google account that you are using to create the new account, then you might get the following screen, and you have to click on “New Google ads account” to proceed.

Step 2: On the next screen, click on the “Skip campaign creation“ at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3: Fill in the details as per your requirement, i.e., the Billing Country, Timezone, and Currency. Make sure to enter them correctly, as you will not be allowed to change them later on.

Once done, select “No” for personalized campaign guidance and then click on the Submit button.

Step 4: Your Google Ads account has now been successfully created.

Now click on “Explore your account” to continue with the payment setup for your account.

Step 5: Once you are into your account, click on the “Tools and settings” option at the top menu, and from the dropdown options, click on “Billing” to expand the menu.

Under the expanded menu, click on “Settings”.

Step 6: On the next screen, fill in the required details for setting up your payment profile for Google Ads. This is an important step that needs to be completed before you start using the account to launch ad campaigns.

Be sure to fill in the details correctly, i.e., if you want to use the account for your own business and charge it under your business expenses, then use the option “Organization” and fill in your business details like address, Tax number (VAT/GST, etc) and then associate your business card details with the account.

If you do not want to bill it under your business expenses, then set the payment profile as an “Individual” and provide the necessary details accordingly.

Once the details are set, especially the type of payment profile, it will be non-editable for the account at later stages, so ensure that you fix the payment profile type first and fill in the correct details.

Fill in the credit card information that you want to use for your Google ads account.

Following this, click on the terms and conditions checkbox and then click on the Submit button to proceed.
